STATEMENT ON ASSURANCES





The Administration, Faculty and Staff of the Ida B. Wells Community Academy (IBWCA) makes and affirms the following assurances.

  • IBWCA assures that it will annually provide the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Ohio Department of Education such information as may be required to determine if the community school is making satisfactory progress toward achieving the funded activities.

  •      This assurance includes IBWCA's participation in any federal or state-funded community school evaluations or studies.
  • IBWCA assures that it will cooperate with the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Ohio Department of Education in evaluating the program being assisted.
  • IBWCA assures that it will subscribe to and maintain e-mail service to share and receive information with other community schools and the Ohio Department of Education.
  • IBWCA assures that it is nonsectarian in its programs, admissions policies, and employment practices.
  • IBWCA assures that it complies with the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, Title Vl of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
  • IBWCA assures that it complies with the same Federal and State audit requirements as do other public schools in the State.
  • IBWCA assures that it meets all applicable Federal, State, and local health and safety requirements.
  • IBWCA assures that it operates in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code.
  • IBWCA assures that it's admission process will not discriminate against anyone regarding race, gender, national origin, color, disability, or age.
  • IBWCA assures that it will admit students on the basis of a lottery, if more students apply than can be accommodated.
  • IBWCA assures that it is in compliance with all required federal assurances and, if funded, will cooperate with the Department in the development and submission of certain reports to meet certain state and federal guidelines and requirements. IBWCA will work with and provide requested data to the successful contractor(s) in the evaluation of Ohio community schools.
  • IBWCA assures that it will maintain appropriate fiscal and program records. IBWCA also assures that fiscal audits of funds will be conducted annually as a part of its regular audit and will assure that auditors should are aware of the Federal audit requirements contained in the Single Audit Act of 1984.
  • IBWCA assures that all monies awarded as a part of this grant program will be spent or encumbered by the last day of September, 1999. IBWCA will also keep and maintain all equipment purchased with grant funds in accordance with the requirements of Federal law and regulation.
